What time is it?

Should you be sleeping, working, unwinding? And yet here you are, reading another parenting blog. Why?

You’ve heard all the advice. You’ve tried, failed, and discarded it. And still, something isn’t clicking. Maybe what you are looking for is not what to do—but why.

Why does your kid talk to AI at 2:00 AM instead of you? Why are they anxious, checked out, or “laying flat” despite having everything? Why are they lonely in a crowd?

Why are you?

You wanted to be a better parent. You know more than any generation before you, yet it doesn’t make you feel any better. Sometimes you feel nothing—just a quiet void.

I’ve been there too. I am a son, a husband, and a father. As a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in Toronto, I see hundreds of families at the depths of their despair, when life itself feels weightless. As an immigrant, I have shed identities and started again.

At the clinic and the kitchen table, I learned that the advice is never the problem. Not knowing why is.

That is what this is about.
